What are the B.O.A.s?

The Badges of Achievement (B.O.A.s) are a Burlesque-community focused modern archivist project.

Saving Tomorrow’s History Today

We believe all of our stories matter, and the best time to save them is now. With the addition of badges, we can wear those stories on our sashes!

From bar shows to opera houses, Burlesque exists on many stages and has continued to inspire the entertainment industry and our audiences worldwide. Documenting this artform has almost always fallen to our shoulders, and the stories we have to tell can get lost in the hustle.

Now is the time to share these stories, and earn badges while doing it. By displaying our badges proudly, our achievements are on display as a reminder of each contribution we’ve made to our art and industry!

To earn a badge, artists will submit an application along with photographic proof of their achievements. An industry member will validate the application and we will notify the artist.

By now you must be wondering:

  • What badges will there be?

  • How are the stories archived?

  • Where do I get involved?

  • WHEN WILL IT OPEN?

    That’s why you need to…

Mission Statement

B.O.A.s mission is to archive the history of modern burlesque as it happens, allowing performers
to celebrate their achievements and shine together as a community.
We do this by hosting a user-generated database of burlesque performer’s careers, rewarding them with badges to mark their achievements and connect them to other artists on similar career paths.

Vision

We envision a world where every performer’s story matters, and their achievements are honored and celebrated both now and in the future. Through badges we can connect with our shared experiences and more freely tell our stories within our community worldwide. Stories once told will be archived and protected, maintaining legacies, and promoting the visibility of Burlesque.

Values

We believe there are enough flowers for us all, and that the journey is more important than the end goal. The B.O.A.s focus is on community building - we leave the competition for the festival stages. By recording memories and creating conversations, we focus on promoting this art form and honoring the time and tease these performers have devoted to it.

We are all historians, and our history should be preserved.
